In short

FoodCheckr is run by one person, Marwan Akhandaf. Corrections to factual claims on this site are the fastest route to a reply, particularly on the allergy and halal pages. App support requests are also handled directly.

Reporting an error

This site makes specific factual claims about food regulation, additives and allergens. Some of them will eventually go out of date, and some may be wrong today. If you find one, please say so.

Corrections are handled directly and take priority over everything else, particularly on the alpha-gal, allergen and halal pages, where being wrong has real consequences for the reader. It helps if you can include the page, the sentence, and a source.

App support

For a problem with the app itself, a product that scans incorrectly, or a missing product in the database, get in touch and include the barcode where you can.

Product data

Product records come from a crowd-sourced database, so coverage is strongest in Europe and patchier elsewhere. If a product is missing entirely, the ingredient-scan mode reads the printed label directly and does not depend on the database at all.

Press and general enquiries

Same address. There is no press office; it is one person.

Privacy

The app's privacy policy is published separately and covers what the app collects and how scan history is stored. See the privacy policy.

Frequently asked

How do I report a wrong ingredient or a missing product?

Get in touch with the barcode and the product name. Product records are crowd-sourced, so gaps are common outside Europe. In the meantime, ingredient-scan mode reads the printed label directly and does not need the product to be in any database.

How quickly are corrections made?

Factual corrections on the allergy and halal pages are handled first, because those are the pages where being wrong matters most. This is a one-person project, so please allow a few days for anything else.
